Broiler Express in Provo Utah

I’ve eaten at a ton of restaurants, and I’m a gourmand through-and-through, but sometimes I just want to eat a great burger and some awesome onion rings, nothing too fancy. Well, if you live in the Provo UT area and you’re looking for an awesome burger, there’s a new spot in town ready to satisfy: Broiler Express.

So, a few weeks ago, I saw a listing pop-up in my local Craigslist free feed offering  a free meal at a place called Broiler Express. I’d never heard of it, but who am I to turn down free food? :) So, my wife and I headed over and, sure enough, they were offering a burger and your choice of fries or onion rings totally free!

Never one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I went with a bacon cheeseburger, and a side of onion rings. And, despite having been open for only a few days, the kitchen produced one of the best burgers I’ve had. The bun was massive, delicious, with just a bit of crunch. The meat was juicy, the bacon awesome…man, my mouth is starting to water :)

Now, I’m a tough critic when it comes to onion rings. I detest breaded onion rings…only batter dipped will do for me. The onion MUST be a Vidalia, because they are larger, thick and sweet. The batter MUST be a light batter, preferably beer batter, and for goodness sakes the oil needs to be at the right temp for each and every new batch. And, that said, the onion rings at Broiler Express were AWESOME! Best I’ve had in quite some time.

My wife got a chicken sandwich, which she loved, and a side of fries, which we both loved. Seriously, all in all, this is a really good place for a good old burger and fries, no question. In fact, the food was so good I only got a picture of the burger and fries…the onion rings vanished too quickly to be photographed :)

Broiler Express is located at 1620 N. Freedom Blvd. in Provo, UT, right by Denny’s and the new Magleby’s Buffet. They don’t appear to have a website yet, but here’s a few pics of their menu to help you on your way.

  2. You gotta be kidding. The patty wasn’t even real hamburger, more like spam with a faint sausage taste. Burger had no flavor, even with bacon on it. Awful, awful, awful, worst burger I’ve ever eaten. I would have rather had a Big Mac, and that’s saying something.

Fries were OK, though, and the Coke machine seemed to work.

    • Christopher,

Really? Honestly, the burger when I went was awesome, and it was definitely ground beef or maybe even ground round. If they’ve changed their meat source since I went, then that sucks, because I really enjoyed my burger and I’m a damn picky burger critic.

If the burgers at Broiler Express suck now, go give Sammy’s Cafe or Tommy’s Burger a shot. Both are in Provo, near center street. Those burgers I’ll stand by as awesome any day of the week.

  3. When Broiler Express first opened, they were not good. I work very close to them and tried them out early on after they opened. The burgers were as Christoper stated…not really burgers and they were somewhat bland.

That being said, they have since changed their tune so to speak and now offer burgers made of real meat! I have had a couple different burgers since the change and they have both been excellent. You should give them another shot.
