I love exotic cars. Seriously, I’ve loved them since I was a kid, but having ridden in quite a few lately, I love them even more 🙂 Since November of last year I’ve had the opportunity to ride in an Aston Martin Vanquish S, a Lamborghini Murcielago, a Nissan GT-R, a supercharged Dodge Viper GTS with 660 rear wheel horsepower…and now, as of yesterday, a Ferrari F430 Spider F1 🙂
For those who don’t know, a Ferrari F430 Spider F1 is a wicked, wicked fast car. 483 horsepower, 343 lb-ft of torque, and a top speed of 196 mph. 0-60 is about 4 seconds.
I absolutely love Ferrari, so much so that whenever I make a trip to Salt Lake City I make sure to leave enough time to go take a walk through Steve Harris Imports, the Ferrari dealer there. Sufficeth to say I was uber stoked to get to ride in such an incredible car!
Basically the same story as the Lamborghini Murcielago and the Nissan GT-R. I’m doing SEO work for a company, and the owner of the company owns a bunch of exotics. So, I joined the company for lunch yesterday, and had the chance to ride in his beautiful Ferrari F430, to and from lunch as well as up and down Provo canyon.
And holy crap was this car fast! You know those scenes in movies where the car is accelerating, and everything on the sides starts to get blurry? Yeah, it felt like that.
I’ve always heard that exotics are somewhat harsh, bumpy rides, excessively loud…but yet again, that simply wasn’t the case. Sure, when he hit the gas on the Ferrari that thing howled like a banshee, but it was comfortable and quite quiet under normal driving conditions. As crazy as it sounds, I really could see that car as a daily driver 🙂
So that about sums it up. I’ve dreamed about riding in a Lamborghini and a Ferrari since I was a little kid, and now I’ve been in both in the space of a month! All that’s left to ride in is his Audi R8, and his new Porsche Panamera Turbo. We’ll see which next week 🙂
