G.I. Joe – Rise of the Cobra – An Amazing Movie

When I first heard that there was going to be a new G.I. Joe movie, I was pretty excited. When I heard that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was going to be playing Cobra Commander, I became a bit worried 🙂 I grew up with G.I. Joe. I watched the cartoons, played with the action figures…I even owned some of the comics. As with anything endearing from my childhood, I wanted to see a movie that did justice to my memories.

I wasn’t disappointed!!! This movie absolutely freaking rocked, and I will be seeing it in theaters again for sure!

G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra was one of the most exciting movies I have seen, easily taking a spot in my Top 10 favorites of all time. The action was plentiful, and well done. The CG effects were awesome, and the story was way exciting. Best of all, the characters were perfect! From attitude to appearance, the characters were exactly as I remembered them. Duke, Snake Eyes, Scarlet, The Baroness, Destro, Cobra Commander, Storm Shadow…everyone played their parts perfectly!

The movie did an excellent job of exploring the backgrounds of many of the main characters. It was nice to see more of the historical character development, and the emotional element binding these characters together made the movie that much more enjoyable.

While it was a serious movie, there was just the right amount of humor in the mix, bringing a perfect balance.

Ray Park did a perfect job with Snake Eyes, who was always my favorite character. His fight sequences, especially with Storm Shadow, were superb. No wonder I wanted to be a Ninja when I was a kid!

I don’t hesitate to recommend this movie to anyone, whether they grew up with G.I. Joe or not. This was an amazingly well made movie, and I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole thing. Yo Joe!!!

Enjoy the trailer to this incredible Summer blockbuster! Fingers crossed for a sequel 🙂

  1. I have to agree that this was a pretty good movie, but I thought the cg effects were terrible. When it is extremely noticeable that half the effects were fake, then it’s not good cg. Another thing was the terrible acting by Channing Tatum, that guy is overrated. But all in all, I agree with this review, and the movie was an interesting watch.

  2. You have got to be kidding me. What a crappy crap crap! What else is in your top 10? Transformers 2, School of Rock and Spider-man 3? 😛

    1. Spider-man 3 sucked, School of Rock was moderately amusing, and Transformers 2 was AWESOME! Alas, not everyone has as good of taste as I do 😉
