I have to say, it has been an awesome couple of months for discovering delicious new places to eat. The latest on my ever growing list of tasty eateries is Flour Girls and Dough Boys in American Fork UT. It is a tasty little bakery and cafe, similar in many respects to Kneader’s, but with much better food
My wife and I went today for lunch, and were very much impressed. My favorite places to eat as a kid were bakeries, and so for me this was a taste of my youth.
I had the full Turkey Cranberry Walnut Brie sandwich, for $6. It is turkey and brie with a cranberry spread on cranberry walnut bread, served with fresh made chips. I also had the Tuscan Sausage Bean soup, which was $3.50. Both the sandwich and the soup were delicious and flavorful, and reasonably priced. You can get a half sandwich and soup for just $7.50, if you prefer a little less volume.
My wife had the Chicken and Avocado panini, which we were told was their most popular sandwich. After one bite, I could understand why! We also tried 2 of their fresh made cookies, a shortbread chocolate chip and a regular chocolate chip. Personally, I would never have thought to add chocolate chips to shortbread, and the taste was fantastic. The regular chocolate chip cookie was moist and delicious, one of the best I’ve had.
Overall, I would say this is an excellent little place for lunch. I hear they do breakfast, and I intend to visit again soon to see how that is!
UPDATE: So, my wife and I went for breakfast, and it was even better than lunch! We tried one of each of the breakfast items, and all of it was utterly delicious. My favorite was the maple sausage sandwich on ciabatta bread, and the ham and cheese croissant. The ham and cheese croissant was hands down the best I have had, and I am something of a ham and cheese croissant connoisseur I’ll be coming in daily for one or two of these!
